Keeping Healthy
Using Talking Heads
This project took place with all three of our Year 5 classes over a period of six weeks -
one 90 minute lesson every week.
The students researched their topic of "Healthy Living" using books and worksheets. They then worked in pairs and wrote a dialogue in Word for their Flash presentation.
This started with the template below.
Still in working in pairs, each designed one of the talking heads' characters.
They then transferred the text from the Word document to below the appropriate head in the Flash template.
Recording themselves onto the computer reciting their dialogue was the next step and then transferring these sound files onto their Flash template.
The Internet was used to track down pictures that illustrated what was being talked about. A digital camera was also used to provide pictures that could be imported.
Finally the attractiveness and readability of the text was improved by changing fonts and colour schemes.
A selection of the resultant presentations were shown with the whole year group together with the Head complementing them on their projects.
